Childhood and Education

Donald John Trump was born into the affluent Trump family in Queens, New York City, on June 14, 1946. His father, Fred Trump, achieved meteoric success as a real estate developer. Donald ranked fourth among a family of five. Business Profession

His business career commenced in 1971 when Trump joined Elizabeth Trump & Son, the company his father founded and subsequently renamed The Trump Organization. In the outer districts of New York City, he initially concentrated on middle-class rental housing, the area his father favoured. Nevertheless, he quickly established himself in Manhattan, where his presence was permanent through prominent real estate endeavours. The inauguration of Trump Tower in 1983 solidified his reputation as a luxury brand icon. His extensive portfolio now comprises hotels, casinos, and golf courses across the globe. Despite his achievements, Trump’s business endeavours encountered substantial obstacles, notably insolvencies within the casino sector.

Entertainment Profession

In addition to attaining national prominence in the real estate industry, Trump became a television personality. From 2004 to 2015, he was a contestant on the reality show The Apprentice, in which participants vied for a management position with The Trump Organization. The show’s catchphrase, “You’re fired,” gained popularity.

Political Profession

Over the years, Trump’s political allegiances have varied, vacillating between the Republican and Democratic parties. In 2011, his political engagement grew more pronounced as he advocated for “birther” conspiracy theories that cast doubt on President Barack Obama’s citizenship. In June 2015, Donald Trump declared his intention to run as a Republican presidential candidate, pledging to prioritise immigration reform, trade liberalisation, and job creation.

With controversy, his campaign utilised provocative language and exhibited a flagrant disregard for principles of political decorum. Despite the prevailing doubt, Trump emerged victorious presidential election against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 securing the Republican nomination. This triumph surprised political analysts on an international scale.

Administration (2017-2021)

Trump’s journey to the presidency was similarly unconventional. Deregulation, tax reforms, and conservative judicial appointments—including three Supreme Court justices—were top priorities for his administration. A transactional approach, scepticism of multinational alliances, and a concentration on advancing American interests characterised his foreign policy. Prominent features include the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, endeavours to abolish the Affordable Care Act, a resolute position on immigration policy, and diplomatic interactions with North Korea.

An extremely polarised political climate, frequent use of social media to communicate directly with the public, and numerous investigations, including a Special Counsel inquiry about   Russian interference in the 2016 election, also defined Trump’s presidency. In 2021, he was subjected to two impeachment proceedings initiated by the House of Representatives. Each trial centred around accusations of incitement to insurrection along with abuse of power. His status as president of the United States was unprecedented. Nevertheless, he was absolved by the Senate on both occasions.

Following the Presidency

Following his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Trump filed a contested rebuttal, asserting unsupported allegations of extensive electoral fraud. The climax of the events following the election and Trump’s rhetoric was the assault on the United States Capitol by his supporters on January 6, 2021.

As of the most recent update in April 2023, President Donald Trump maintains his position of authority within the Republican Party, indicating to the possibility of renewed political engagements. His unorthodox approach to business and politics continues to provoke strong reactions across the political spectrum.
